Old House Charm

Our house was built in 1920.
Unfortunately, most of the original light fixtures,
light switches, and plumbing fixtures have been "upgraded."

A few wonderful things remain and
they bring me such pleasure!

The latch on the back kitchen window.

Bracket holding the shelf in the pantry.

Pantry door knob.

Handrail going up the steps.

Stairwell banister in the living room.
It's really not that "orange."
And it's still unpainted!!!!!

I love the original details. My house had the original lights, and bathroom and kitchen cabinets removed. I'm so thankful...they didn't mess with the doors and I have all the original glass knobs and art deco back plates. There was only one original light in the house. But I've had fun putting vintage lighting up.

Those brackets are amazing. Love the banister.

Love the banister too. I live in a house built in 1876 and much of ours was upgraded too when we moved in. Like you, a few things were left, which we enjoy. I love living in a older home!

Ooooh, how I love history! Your home looks so beautiful. :) Our last home was also built around the 1920's - and after living in a brand new home this time around, I can tell you I prefer old homes, even if they are less practical. :) xx
